IMHO, The best looking het red axanthics are produced from a Super (Red Axanthic). But, this goes for most mutations in that the supers make better look heterozygous offspring.

I didn't expect this female to go this year as she was small. I didn't breed a male to her until I seen her building for ovulation. It's better to get good eggs than have a female develop complications from not being bred.

Results: No Ghosts but these High Yellow (HY) Lessers look really nice!

My cannon camera has decided to crap out on me. I've taked over 30,000 pictures with it so I cannot really blame it for being tired. I'm going to send it away to get fixed. In the mean time I have my brothers canon camera on loan. The pictures seem darker out of it which is a shame. At any rate you can tell from these "crappy" pictures that these guys are really nice!

One of my Pastel PHGS females that's going to lay this year. Hopefully she proves out to be a het. If not I'll atleast have Super Pastels 100% het Genetic Stripes out of this breeding.

Description: Lesser Het Red Axanthic 1 2006 & Lesser Het Green Ghost 1 2005 x Genetic Stripe 1 2005.

Last year this pairing (Lesser het RA x GS) gave me all slugs. I seen the Lesser het RA spurring this female but not breeding. So, at the last minute I put in one of my Lesser HGG males. I believe the Lesser Het Green Ghost will be the father.

I've been trying to do this breeding for a while now. Eventually I'll produce a Lesser Genetic Stripe.......

Results: Well, it looks like the Lesser het Red Axanthic fathered this clutch. The ones that aren't a het red axanthic could be possible het ghost but I'm just going to assume they were all fathered from the Lesser het Red Axanthic.

Also, I got 2 males! Yes. Now I'm on my way to producing Lesser Red Axanthic Genetic Stripes, Lesser Stripes...etc.

Description: Pastel Het Red Axanthic 2/08 x PG 2/04.

The "PG" morph is similar to the Enchi gene. A Super "PG" has been produced and now I'm working on the crosses. None have been released and I may change the name in the future.

They are called "PG"'s as I purchased the project off of Paul Gillard.

Results: This clutch was fully out of the egg on July 29th which is day 51. Typically they pip on day 52 and come out around 54-56. These guys pipped and then just flew out of the egg.

This is last clutch taken with the loaner camera.....

I did not see the Granite breeding this female so I believe the Opal is the father?

Results: Well, if the Opal Het RA fathered the clutch all of the babies would have been Pastel and 1/2 would have been Het Red Axanthics. So, the Granite male must be the father. They all appear to be normal so either the Granite isn't genetic or it's recessive. Most lines of Granite are dominant/co-dominant so I guess this line isn't genetic???....

I didn't observe any breedings with this pair and only 1 breeding last season. So, either this is retained sperm from last year or the male was very sneaky and bred this female quickly.

Results: More very nice looking Pieds. High White Pieds are genetic as is evident in the number of High White Pieds I produce. I went out of my way to not only diversify my Pied stock but to also aquire high white stock for my breeding projects. It's really paid off!

One of the Lesser Het Bandeds looks inbetween a banded and a normal. This is common in the hets. Some look normal and others look almost like they got caught in the middle.

Description: Lesser het Burgandy 1 2006 & Pin Champagne Het Orange Ghost 1 2008 x Lesser Het Burgandy 1 2006.

The "Burgandy" gene originates from a female I've had here for about 10 years. She's only produced 1 clutch for me in 2006. Of which 1.1 Lesser Het Burgs and 1.5 Het Burgs were produced. I got rid of the normal looking male and kept the lesser male. Unfortunately, the lesser male is gay 95% of the time..........

Even though I want to prove out the Burgandy gene the Pin Champagne was placed in with this female to increase the odds of getting fertile eggs. We'll see what pops out.

The Lesser Champagne is not only a Paradox but he may also be a Pinstripe as well. He's definately a keeper so I'll know in a few years what all he is hiding.

I love the look of a perfect Genetic Stripe! This ones a keeper.

I started out with a Genetic Stripe male that had zero side pattern and 2 smudge marks going down his back. Other than that he was perfect. All of the Genetic Stripes I've produced have had very clean to no side pattern and they either have a full perfect stripe or are slightly broken.

Much like with the Pieds, it seems like with the Genetic Stripes what you put in you get back out.........

Both Lesser males are darker than "regular" Lessers. The one male is noticably different than the other but both are darker. The normal appears to be normal.

I've been told that the recessive line that RDR proved out years ago grows into their Burgandy colour. So, if my line is genetic we'll if these guys change over time.

Description: Pastel Red Axanthic 1/08 & Pastel Champagne Het Orange Ghost 1/08 x Sib High Yellow 5/06.

This female wasn't doing anything and then it was "surprise!" I'm going to ovulate. So, she was bred once by the Pastel RA on Dec 27/09 and once by the Pastel Champagne on April 25/10. I believe the Pastel Champagne fathered the clutch.

Also, this female I have marked down as a "sib" high yellow. However, she now looks like a high yellow....... The HY's are a dominant trait I've been working with for a number of years and I'm just starting to breed them into other mutations.

Results: The High Yellow gene can be a very subtle gene. I thought this female (mother) was a normal "sib" High Yellow. However, she has proven to be a High Yellow herself. A good gene to use as an enhancer gene.

Results: These guys were very squiry and wouldn't sit still. All of them have sexed as females. I'm hoping atleast one of them is a male. I didn't want to molest them too much with them being all over the place. You never want to hurt a baby tring to sex them. I always sex them after they've shed to double check the sexing out of the incubator. So, we'll have to wait and see if any "turn into" males.....

This POG is from the NERD line Orange Ghost.

It's unfortunate that only 2 eggs were good. However, this female wasn't doing anything and then it was like "surprise I'm going to ovulate". So, the male only bred her May 2 and May 9th before she ovulated. They were warmed up to full temps on April 1st.

Results: Another Pastel Mimosa (POG Champagne)! and he's a male! I produced a female Pastel Mimosa in clutch # 14.

This clutch definately makes it easier to tell what is going on since a Super Pastel is not involved. With the breeding being Pin Champagne Het Ghost x POG there are only limited outcomes of that breeding. By illiminating what he's not you can figure out what he is.....

I cannot wait to see how this guy turns out!

Results: The one egg produced a SPOGL (Super Pastel Green Ghost Lesser). Unforunately, I was away at the Red Deer Alberta show and the little guy had knotted up his embilical cord. When I got home he was really skinny and weak and even though I untied him he still didn't make it.

I have pictures of him but it's not fair to post them since the little guy didn't make it. He was a looker though! Hopefully I'll produce more next year........

The kinked Caramels I produce are unmistakable. They look like you grabbed them 3/4 of the way down their bodies body with both hands and then broke their backs. Almost like you tried the pop them in the wrong spot and kinked their spins.

Description: Super Pastel 1/06 x Het Red Axanthic 19/06.

The Super Pastel also has a visual recessive mutation in it and the het Red Axanthic is a gene carrier for the recessive mutation. I have yet to name this mutation. The founding female can be seen in clutch # 75.

This clutch is significant in the fact that I've beaten my previous record for the number of clutches in 1 season. My personal record was 96 clutchs back in 2006......

I was never compensated by NERD for the pair of het caramels I purchased for $10,000 US in 1997 that never produced Caramels..........

Description: ??? Het GS 1/07 x Het GS 4/07.

The male (??? Het GS 1/07) was produced from breeding a Genetic Stripe male to a Het Red Axanthic female. That pairing (GS x Het RA) has produced 3 litters for me and all came out looking like I would have expected them to look. Het Red Axanthics and normals that were het for Genetic Stripe. Well, and then there was this guy......

So, at the very least he is a Het Genetic Stripe but he may also be a Het Red Axanthic???? Some people say he looks like a Phantom?????? This breeding and a few others will hopefully help determine what this guy is. If he's genetic I will give him a name.

When you think about it the first dominant mutations had to come from normal breedings. It really boggles your mind thinking about how the very first Pastel, Spider, Lesser, Mojave, Butter....etc came from. There would have been a normal x normal breeding and out of that would have popped out the very first pastel, spider, butter...etc.

Description: Het Genetic Stripe 18/06 & 5/08 x Het Genetic Stripe 11/07.

These animals are offspring from a female with a weird coloured belly bred to a Genetic Stripe male. The trait is genetic and follows through to some of her offspring (approximately half). The mother produced offspring to my Genetic Stripe male in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

So, these are het genetic stripes bred back together to see if the mothers trait has a super form. Not much to go on though (3 eggs). My saving grace is that 2 more females from this lineage are gravid to the same pairings. So, I should have a good sample of eggs to go on.

I believe the Pin Champagne will father this clutch.

I didn't expect this female to go as she is small! However, she was building for ovulation so I put a male in with her.

I put the Pastel Red Axanthic male in with her on Jan 8th to get her back on food again. Then I noticed she was going to ovulate so I put the Pin Champagne in with her on May 21. She was only bred those 2 times......

I believe the "Lesser Pin Champagne" has Pinstripe in it as it is more of a tan colour in person. Where as, the Lesser Champagnes tend to be more of a off white colour. Also, the Lesser Champagne male produced in clutch # 62 is only a Lesser Champagne (no Pin) as he is a paradox.

Also, the Pastel Lesser YB and Lesser YB are very cool as they are ringers as well! The Lesser YB is very suttle but the Pastel Lesser YB slaps you in the face and screams YB.

Description: Lesser Het Cinnamon Stripe 1/07, Pin Champagne Het Orange Ghost 1/08 & Pastel Champagne Het Orange Ghost 1/08 x Het Cinnamon Stripe 3/06.

The "Cinnamon Stripe" is an unproven animal that I'm desperately trying to prove out. The "Hets" come out with orange and yellow flecking/spots down their backs. So, I have a hard time believing it's not genetic.

Unforunately, I lost the original mother and the Lesser Het CS "son" is gay 99% of the time.

PS I had this female before the "Cinnamon Pastels" were first produced. So, I called this female a "Cinnamon Stripe". I'll give it a proper name if/when it proves genetic.

The "Melanistic" is a dark het albino male I hatched out in 2007. He was the only one in the clutch, however, the rest of them looked inbetween him and a normal. So, I'm breeding him back into the line to try and produce either more Melanistics but ultimately Melanistic Albinos. We'll see what comes out.......

It's not going to matter since both are Caramels. However, I believe Caramel 1/08 will be the father. Caramel 1/06 bred the female Dec 18 2009 and Caramel 1/08 bred the female May 2 2010.

Description: Het Orange Ghost Het Genetic Stripe 4/07 & 5/07 x Het Orange Ghost Het Genetic Stripe 2/07.

I produced 5.2 Double het Ghost Genetic Stripes in 2007. This is the second of the 2 females to produce this year. Hopefully I see a few Ghost Stripes this year! My fingers are crossed.....
